Who we are
Plain Canada Clair promotes plain language in Canada in both official languages. It is a volunteer, unincorporated, member organization working to build a community of plain language professionals and advocates.
What we do
Established in 2019
Canadians attending the 2019 Oslo Conference of Plain Language Association International decided to organize a national Canadian organization for plain language supporters.
Our goals
Promote and inform:
- Advocate for plain language in public documents.
- Help business, governments, and not-for-profit groups understand what is meant by plain language writing.
- Show the financial savings of putting documents in plain language.
- Link plain language to transparency and democracy.
Develop provincial strategies:
- Create a plain language strategy.
- Advocate to government and business.
Deliver training information:
- Provide information sessions and basic courses.
- Set up a directory of available plain language training.
