Why Plain Language Matters for Climate Change Communication
Monday, April 14, 2025
12:00 p.m. Pacific / 3:00 p.m. Eastern
virtual (Zoom)
Effective communication of climate science to the public is essential for building support and enacting strong policies to address climate change. So why are we so bad at it?
Without a basic understanding of the science behind climate change, it can be difficult for people to understand why they need to take action and what they need to do. Scientific jargon, confusing acronyms, and cryptic policy language make it difficult to improve this understanding.
In this webinar, environmental scientist and Plain Canada Clair member Sydney Boulton will discuss why a lot of climate change communication fails and how plain language can help make it successful.
